Celebrating 25 years of Mcdonalds Coleraine

When the team from McDonald's UK got in touch to see if I wanted to go visit my local Coleraine store, well I couldn't say no could I?

Coleraine McDonald's is celebrating 25 years in the town today and has become one of the biggest and longest standing employers locally with many staff staying more than 20 years.

We met Bruce the franchisee who has been with the store from day one and it's clear he genuinely cares about his team and the community. We forget sometimes about the people behind the counter and we got chatting to one of the team Philip who has been with the store 20 years, he loves his job and is a key part of the team. Jennie the manager has been with the company 21 years, and she was telling me that she now classes workmates as best friends.

The staff, management and Bruce knew customer names, regular orders and loved having the craic with everyone including Audrey one of the longest standing customers who came in for a bit of banter and a read of the daily newspaper.

McDonald's launched its festive menu last week and I got to try a few bits from it. The Chicken Deluxe burger was amazing, imagine chicken selects, cheese and spicy relish all in a bun, it's genius! Also on the menu is the Big Tasty and cheese melts which looked amazing and to top it all off they have a limited edition Matchmaker Mint McFlurry which was fab!!

Supporting the community is a key priority for the restaurant through litter picks and sponsorship of local football teams kits. Bruce and his team are also truly invested in their staff, providing courses in Maths and English to allow their staff to gain qualifications and help further their career.

I know personally if we go to the restaurant, we use the drive thru the majority of the time, but today meeting the team, seeing how they know people's names, orders and have the craic, I am going to make sure to just park up and pop in from now on, and with the new My McDonald's app it makes it soo simple. After you register and set it all up in store, I could be sitting at home, place my order, pop to store, have the chats and pick it up, sure how convenient is that!!

Seriously though, all jokes aside the team were fantastic and it's really made me look differently at not only the branch but also the brand. We know about the Ronald McDonald House Charity and the company wide charity efforts but when I heard about the huge commitment to the local community it was amazing.

All that's left for me now is to get on this app and order the McFlurry!!

Thanks to the team for the invite, and here's to another 25 amazing years.

Till next time lovelies

Let me know your favourite McDonald's treat

Ali xx
