Hey lovelies, today I am back with a little review of a fantastic local NI company and their handmade fudge, so sit back, relax and be prepared to want a little sweetness.
Granny Shaws Fudge Factory is a local company based in the gorgeous countryside of Kells and is made using the freshest ingredients and is a blend of that creamy amazing pure dairy fudge and stunning flavours. They make their fudge by hand daily, using Irish butter and it will keep fresh for 6 to 8 weeks, so lots of time to enjoy!
I was very lucky to receive a gorgeous box of fudge to try, but it actually wasn't my first time to try it. Granny Shaws attend many artisan markets and the one held in Coleraine is always a favourite of mine to get some fudge. You can purchase the fudge in 100g bars for £2 each, and there is a multitude of flavours. A personal favourite of ours is the salted caramel and the plain one. 100g is a fantastic sized bar and as you only can eat a little at a time it lasts forever.
I was kindly sent the chocolate, chocolate baileys, raspberry ripple and lemon meringue flavours and I was looking forward to them! We settled down with a cuppa and tried all the flavours.
So the chocolate fudge was extremely rich and to be honest a little tiny bit is more than enough. You could easily cut this up into multiple bits and have it as a little treat everyday.
I was worried initially that the baileys chocolate one would be very overpowering, but I had no need to worry in the slightest, it had the nicest hint of baileys and even Mr Preener who doesn't like Baileys said it was lovely. The raspberry ripple was my favourite of this mix by far. Again the raspberry flavour was just enough and not overpowering. Last but by no means least was the lemon meringue flavour. Again the flavour was just enough and if you love lemon you will adore this one. It had a gorgeous tang to it, that cut through the real sweetness of the fudge.
Overall the flavours were soo well balanced and I wouldn't hesitate in buying these ones at the market.
Granny Shaws can also custom make flavours for you, just think how fantastic this would be for a wedding favour. You can customise your own flavour that you both love and it would be a gorgeous handmade touch. As I said earlier, they sell at different markets and the best way to keep up to date with their markets is through their facebook page here. You can also buy the fudge online and they will post it out to you. My gift came through the post and there was no damage to the box as it was wrapped etc very well.

Thanks to the team at Granny Shaws for the gift of the fudge, as always all opinions are my own and not influenced or sponsored.
Till next time my lovelies
